A Sign from Winston

Two maybe even closer to three years ago Winston & Miller were outside playing. We called for them to come in & they came running. We noticed Winston had lost his collar. Not one tag or both tags but the entire collar! We searched the yard for that collar. We searched everywhere! At that time he had snuck under our fence to the neighbor’s house a couple of times. One time he snuck under the fence & went in through their doggy door and started eating their dog’s food! That dog whose food he was eating was Max who now lives with us. Anyway – we decided to give up on the search for the collar. It was nowhere to be found. Fast forward to last week. Courtney was mowing to get the yard nice & short to put down grass seed in the hopes that we might once again have a beautiful yard. He heard something making a funny noise and looked behind him. He was dragging something behind the mower. He stopped & picked up the object. This is what he found.

In the last two maybe even three years since Winston lost that collar we have searched, we have mowed, we have had rain & snow. We should have seen this collar!! I’ve decided that this is a sign from Winston. He is still here with us. He is watching over us. He wanted to say hi.

There is a part in Cael’s book that Uncle Curt sent to him that I am choosing to believe is the reason we found the collar. It says, “Dogs in Dog Heaven have almost always belonged to somebody on Earth and, of course, the dogs remember this. Heaven is full of memories. So sometimes an angel will walk a dog back to Earth for a little visit and quietly, invisibly, the dog will sniff about his old backyard, will investigate the cat next door, will follow the child to school, will sit on the front porch and wait for the mail. When he is satisfied that all is well, the dog will return to Heaven with the angel.” Winston came for a visit and decided to leave us a gift.
